Tempe Town Lake Project in Tempe, AZ
The Tempe Town Lake Project is a very interesting one. Here we are using Pressure Grout under the foundation for the new Roller Compacted Concrete Dam at the West end of the lake. The Contractor is Arizona Foundation Solutions. This is an interesting project and a very expensive one — concrete/grout is very costly.
The Ready Mix Truck is sitting on a portion of the first lift of the RCC Dam. Under the dam are a pocket of “voids” where water is flowing. Arizona Foundation Solutions was hired to fill the voids and divert or stop the flow of water. You can see how they are using the pressurized grout to do this.
There are also 2 other areas of the dam where AZFS will grout.
Look on the left side of the picture, about the center. You can see 3 men. This the location where the grout is pumped under about 100 pounds of pressure.
In the foreground of the picture are blue pipes with white pipes coming out of them. These are areas where the water is being pumped out from underneath the dam.
The black bladder in the background is the current dam holding the water back.
